How did we do it?
- Assessed state forms, using research-based guidelines focused on user comprehension, navigation, and task-completion.
- Redesigned several state application forms and supported working groups’ redesign efforts.
- Created a key resource, Guide to Assessing Food Stamp Application Forms, which documented a process for improving forms and laid out standards for assessing forms. This resource is available for purchase.
- Taught good forms design practices in a two-and-a-half-day course to state employees, building internal capacity.
- Trained state employees to measure the effectiveness of redesigned forms.
